As an acting coach, Lisa Robertson has built a premier reputation working with a slate of cutting-edge performances in film and television in Los Angeles, and increasingly in Australia and the UK. 

Lisa coached Alexis Bledel's Emmy Award-winning role in THE HANDMAID’S TALE (Hulu); Logan Browning's NAACP Best Actress nominated series lead in DEAR WHITE PEOPLE (Netflix), also with Logan, THE PERFECTION opp. Alison Williams; Ashleigh Cummings US breakout opp. Ansel Elgort in THE GOLDFINCH and her leads in upcoming CITADEL (Amazon Prime), NOS4A2 (AMC) opposite Zachary Quinto, and WESTSIDE (NZ). 

 

In current projects Lisa coaches Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Candyman) for his series lead in CULPRITS (Disney+) and feature film, FEMME, starring opp. George MacKay (1917). Also, the breakout leads for Shuang Hu in FIVE BLIND DATES (Amazon); Jazelle Villanueva in AZNBBGRL (Freeform). And Misha Osherovich in GIRL IN THE WOODS (Peacock).

 

In her native Australia from 2020-2022 she has coached roles in ELVIS; THE CLEARING (upcoming); PIECES OF HER (Netflix); THE LOST FLOWERS OF ALICE HART (Amazon); FIVE BLIND DATES (Paramount+) with lead actor/rising star, Shuang Hu; SISSY; EDEN; NINE PERFECT STRANGERS; also, THE TRUE HISTORY OF THE KELLY GANG (dir. Justin Kurzel, lead youth role of Young Ned).

In the US, Lisa has recently coached lead and supporting roles in PEN15 (Hulu - Emmy nominated); THE L WORD: GENERATION Q (SHOWTIME); MAYFAIR WITCHES (AMC); WARRIOR (HBO); GOD FRIENDED ME (CBS); AMERICAN PRINCESS (Lifetime); Ron Howard/Brian Grazer's, MARS (NatGeo); and MORTAL ENGINES.

 

A protégé of acting coach, Larry Moss, other favorite credits include MUNICH (Steven Spielberg); RENDITION, (Chopard Award for Breakout Performance at Cannes); Eddie Izzard’s series lead in THE RICHES (on-set) as well as OCEAN’S THIRTEEN (on-set), VALKYRIE; Lisa was on-set coach for the Russell Crowe feature, TENDERNESS. Also, THE TWILIGHT SAGA; THE PACIFIC; THE STONING OF SORAYA M (title role, Mozhan Marno); BOSS; BROTHERHOODTHE OC (numerous roles); THE SHIELD; THE SOPRANOS; POST GRAD (Alexis Bledel). One of Lisa's first coaching roles was for James L. Brooks during his casting of SPANGLISH. Her full list of credits runs to the hundreds.

Lisa Robertson Studio was founded in 2002 in Los Angeles at the studio on Cashio Street!  Lisa enjoys longtime working relationships with the alum of her studio, including Leonardo Nam, WESTWORLD (HBO); Michelle Weaver, LOVE IS_ (OWN); Natasha Bassett ELVIS; BRITNEY EVER AFTER and Coen Bros' HAIL, CAESAR!; Ana Ortiz (UGLY BETTY; DEVIOUS MAIDS); John Ross Bowie (BIG BANG THEORY; SPEECHLESS); Dawn Lyen-Gardner (QUEEN SUGAR); Anne Dudek (MAD MEN; HOUSE); Scott MacArthur (KILLING IT, THE RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES (HBO); EL CAMINO|BREAKING BAD, (Netflix) and THE MICK (FX) ); Mojean Aria (SEE, Apple TV+) and Dakota Shapiro in the upcoming HUNGER GAMES: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) to name a few.

As a writer/director Lisa was selected for the prestigious AFI Directing Workshop for Women. Her short film, COMMERCE, qualified for Academy Award consideration and is a top 50 All-Time Bestselling Drama Short on iTunes. 

 

With her feature screenplay of the same name, she received Film Independent fellowships in Screenwriting and Directing. Her script also received recognition in the Academy Awards' Nicholl Fellowship and the Page Awards. 

 

Lisa mentors directors in FIND's feature film Directing Lab, with SUNDANCE Collab and advised alongside Liz Hannah (THE POST) in the AT&T HELLO LAB filmmaker incubator. 

Lisa works with numerous luxury brand and technology CEOs, focusing on presence, vocal connection, emotion, and media training.

 

BACKGROUND:

After a young career as a professional dancer in her native Australia, Lisa was spotted in her first acting class by director Jane Campion and auditioned to final consideration for the role of "Kay" in Ms. Campion's SWEETIE.

 

Lisa subsequently trained as an actor in London, San Francisco (American Conservatory Theater), and for five years in Los Angeles with Larry Moss
