Loss-Angeles based acting coach, Lisa Robertson has built a premier reputation working with a slate of cutting-edge performances in film and television in the US, Australia and the UK.
Lisa coached Alexis Bledel's Emmy Award-winning role in THE HANDMAID’S TALE (Hulu); Logan Browning's NAACP Best Actress nominated series lead in DEAR WHITE PEOPLE (Netflix), Josh Heuston's recent breakouts in DUNE PROPHECY (HBO), DANGEROUS ANIMALS and OFF-CAMPUS (PRIME); Hoa Xuande's Spirit Award nominated lead in THE SYMPATHIZER (HBO); Costa D'Angelo's TELL ME LIES and his currently shooting co-lead in Netflix UNTITLED HOCKEY DRAMA; Ashleigh Cummings in THE GOLDFINCH, CITADEL (Prime), NOS4A2 (lead, AMC), and the award-nominated LONG BRIGHT RIVER opp. Amanda Seyfried.
Lisa coached UK actor Nathan Stewart-Jarrett to his BIFA Best Actor win for FEMME (won jointly with George MacKay); also, his series lead in CULPRITS (DISNEY+) and DOWN CEMETERY ROAD (Apple) opp Emma Thompson.
In youth talent, Lisa coached Alyla Browne for FURIOSA (US Critics Choice Nomination for Outstanding Youth Performance, and Alyla's AACTA AWARD winning series, THE LOST FLOWERS OF ALICE HART (Amazon, title role) opp. Sigourney Weaver, among multiple other shows.
In her now 20+ year career, other favorites projects include, MUNICH (Steven Spielberg); RENDITION, (Chopard Award for Breakout Performance at Cannes); Eddie Izzard's series lead in THE RICHES, also, OCEANS 13, VALKYRIE;: Jennifer Beals for THE L WORD: GENERATION Q; PEN15 (Hulu, Emmy nominated); WARRIOR (HBO); multiple roles for THE TWILIGHT SAGA; THE OC; THE PACIFIC; THE STONING OF SORAYA M (title role); BOSS; BROTHERHOOD; THE BRIDGE; THE SHIELD; POST GRAD (Alexis Bledel) to name a very few.
A protégé of acting coach, Larry Moss, Lisa founded her Studio in 2002. and has consistently trained both emerging and professional actors to career highs in her (now Global) Weekly Class and Pro-Series Masterclasses.
DIRECTING:
As a writer/director Lisa was selected for the prestigious AFI Directing Workshop for Women and Directing and Screenwriting fellowships at Film Independent. Her short film, COMMERCE, won the Adrienne Shelly Foundation Award, numerous festivals and qualified for Academy Award consideration.
Her feature script of the same name received recognition in the Academy Awards' Nicholl Fellowship and the Page Awards.
Lisa also mentored "directing performance" for FIND, SUNDANCE Collab, the USC/Netflix Directors program and advised alongside Liz Hannah in the AT&T LAB filmmaker incubator.
BACKGROUND:
After a young career as a professional dancer in her native Australia, Lisa was spotted in her first acting class by director, Jane Campion and auditioned to final consideration for the role of "Kay" in Ms. Campion's SWEETIE. Her next acting class saw storied Australian coach, Kevin Jackson recommend her to American Conservatory Theatre (ACT) in San Francisco.
Lisa subsequently trained as an actor in London, San Francisco and for five years in Los Angeles with Larry Moss who recognized her directing talent with actors, and launched her coaching career by recommending her industry wide.
