"Working with Lisa has given me greater clarity and insight into any material I am studying with her, along with a push of vital energy and enthusiasm for the craft of acting. ADVANCED/PROFESSIONAL SCENE-STUDY

Saturday: 12pm-6pm
A committed and creative environment for the trained and professional actor to renew, strengthen and challenge creative muscles, while honing script analysis and intention, with a focus on tone. The actor works towards breaking through to a new level or different type of role with a goal of technical, imaginative and physical exploration of the scene while allowing the organic spontaneity and relaxation required of film and TV. All scenes are rehearsed outside of class hours and booked by the actor for the Saturday of their choice. Scenes are typically 10-20 mins.

As Lisa coaches auditions auditions and roles daily, both privately and on-set, in the workaday world of LA, she is well aware that the actor can begin to feel limited in their risk-taking. Or, if the actor is in a long-running part, they may feel unready to return to auditioning (particularly when a series regular role ends). A ready instrument and the confidence, relaxation and emotional layering that come from weekly long-form scene-study class is invaluable to the working actor.

Lisa always has eye toward the simplicity and relation of camera -- but believes an actor working only toward the "sides" isn't progressing toward the unique emotional and physical freedom -- the personal "stamp" -- that defines an actor and leads to a significant career. Plays and great writing are an important component of class. Original writing is also encouraged. As with all Lisa's classes, the power is with the actor in finding the "great director" in themselves.

Enrollment: An audit of the class is recommended. If the actor is looking to enroll, a subsequent conversation as to placement in class will be organized with Lisa or her assistant.

Class cost: $255 per pay-month (four consecutive Saturdays constitute a pay-month). The actor may start class mid-month with pro-rated payment upon acceptance.

WE ARE HOLDING AN INDUSTRY SHOWCASE SCENE-NIGHT OF THE SATURDAY CLASS called: "AMERICAN TEN" running February 6-8 at The Coast Playhouse. Click here for details.

INTERMEDIATE SCENE STUDY

Tuesday: 2pm-6pm
The Intermediate class will offer actors thorough grounding in technique through exercises (emotional release/imagery/creating physical and behavioral life) and assigned scene work. The class is smaller in number and auditing is not permitted. Scene work is kept at 5-10 minutes to work more deeply on intention and the individual actor's development.

The Intermediate class will work toward the goals of all Lisa's training: the growth of spontaneous actors, grounded in technique, working moment-to-moment.

The Intermediate class is for the actor who already has some training and/or some professional experience. There are actors Lisa recommends take this class in unison with the Saturday for a period if they need more experience with script analysis. There is great diversity in age and background. Actors currently taking class include recent undergraduates of theater studies, actors who have representation and are working in the industry but have not had formal training, mature actors returning to the craft, and a number of top producers and writers from TV and feature film who have harbored a desire to act. Original writing is also encouraged and performed.

Enrollment: Limited.

Class cost: $255 per pay-month (four consecutive Tuesdays constitute a pay-month). The actor may start class mid-month with pro-rated payment upon acceptance.

NEW CLASSES COMING SOON.
