Biography
Lisa Robertson is well known for her work as an acting coach in film and television in Los Angeles. She forwent her early career in dance to pursue classical acting training in her native Australia and London, and at American Conservatory Theater, San Francisco. After moving to LA in 1996, Lisa began training with acclaimed acting coach Larry Moss (who has coached the Oscar-winning and -nominated performances of Leonardo DiCaprio, Hilary Swank, and Helen Hunt, to name a few), who recognized Lisa's unique abilities and launched her career as a coach and teacher. Lisa's full coaching credits of the last seven years are far too numerous to list and run the gamut from award-winning dramatic performances to comedy, romantic comedy to thriller and horror. Favorite projects include:
- Eddie Izzard in his critically acclaimed lead role on FX' "The Riches" (on set), as well as his roles in "Ocean's 13" (on set), "Valkyrie" opposite Tom Cruise, Sally Potter's new feature "Rage" with Judi Dench; and opposite Liev Schrieber in "Every Day."
- The upcoming feature film release "Tenderness" starring Russell Crowe, directed by John Polson ("Swimfan," "Hide and Seek"). Lisa rehearsed and subsequently coached sixteen-year-old newcomer Sophie Traub on set in her leading role opposite Mr. Crowe;
- Omar Metwally (2004 Tony nominee) for his roles in Steven Spielberg's "Munich," "Rendition" (for which he just won the Chopard Award at Cannes for Best Emerging Actor playing Reese Witherspoon's husband suspected of terrorist involvement); and his lead in James Ivory's "City of Your Final Destination" opposite Anthony Hopkins and Laura Linney.
- Alexis Bledel "Post Grad's Survival Guide" with Michael Keaton and Carol Burnett.
- Lead and supporting roles in recent releases such as (removed comma) "Traitor" (starring Don Cheadle and Guy Pearce), Frank Darabont's "The Mist," "The Babysitters," "Big Red" (Noel Fisher opposite Brian Cox, Sundance 2008), "Prayers For Bobby" (director Russell Mulcahy), "American Girl – Chrissy's Stand" (HBO) Joanne Baron in "iMurders," "The Prince and Me," "Drag Me to Hell" (director Sam Raimi) and "Frankie and Alice" with Halle Berry.
- She coached lead performances in two films that recently played in competition at the Toronto International Film festival: "The Stoning of Soraya M" (Mozhan Marno – title role) and "Rain" (Nicki Micheaux – lead role).
- Noel Fisher: "The Riches," "Red" opposite Brian Cox (Sundance 2007), "The Pacific."
- Credits also include "Silent Hill," "House of Sand and Fog," and "Spanglish" (screentest coach).

Nicki Micheaux (2007 NAACP nomination Best Actress) for her series lead on "Lincoln Heights" as well as newcomer Robert Adamson on the same series; Noel Fisher for the Spielberg/Hanks series "The Pacific"; Ana Ortiz on "Ugly Betty" as well as coaching Ana's LA theater credits; Annabeth Gish "Brotherhood"; other series leads Lisa has coached include "The OC," "The Shield," "24," and "Commander in Chief." She has coached lead guests on nearly every major episodic and sit-com including "The Unit," "Mad Men," "The Sopranos," [removed apostrophe] "Without a Trace," "Everybody Loves Raymond," "CSI," "CSI: Miami," "CSI:NY," "Shark," "K-Ville," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Desperate Housewives," and "Veronica Mars," to name a very few.
Lisa very recently coached Derek Webster's new series role regular opposite Annabella Sciorra in "Mental," and Omar Metwally's series lead in the pilot "Virtuality." Lisa has also coached lead and supporting roles in numerous MOW's (list upon request).
THEATER
Lisa has coached theater roles for the Mark Taper Forum, Ahmanson Theater, South Coast Rep, Off-Broadway and Broadway.
Lisa was awarded a 2004 New Directors Observership by the New York Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation, which she completed at the Ahmanson Theater under director Tom Moore.
As Producer and Associate Director, Lisa mounted the critically acclaimed production of "King Lear" at Electric Lodge, Venice, flying legendary Shakespeare and voice coach, Patsy Rodenburg, from the National Theater, London, and offering her directorial debut which was hailed in the Los Angeles Times and Variety as one of the most exciting events in Los Angeles theater that year and also received an article on its closing in the New York Times Arts Section.
Lisa teaches an Advanced/Professional Scene Study Class each Saturday at her studio, which has attracted not only notable actors from film, TV and the New York stage but directors, writers and cinematographers looking to hone storytelling skills and their dialogue with actors. She has recently added an Intermediate level Scene-Study class and is producing a showcase scene-night of her Advanced/Professional Saturday Class at The Coast Playhouse in West Hollywood called "AMERICAN TEN." She coaches film and television both on-set and privately from her home in Brentwood.
